It’s no secret that Amazon is gearing up for its full retail launch in Australia, with many predicting that the launch will happen on “Black Friday” (which of course happens to be this Friday). Amazon hasn’t formally announced which brands it will launch with down under, although it has already let slip which product categories we’re likely to see when it does expand its local sales operation. But that hasn’t stopped us identifying the big technology brands it will be competing to sell. To produce a list, first we analysed Australia’s major online retailers (JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, The Good Guys and Officeworks) and identified the key tech products they sell. Then we examined the clues Amazon has left online to see which of those products it’s planning to sell. Because Amazon hasn’t fully launched in Australia yet, if you head to the amazon.com.au site all you’ll find is the existing storefront for selling ebooks and ereaders such as the new Kindle Oasis.
